I go out of my way to make something special in the summer-especially when I have friends that come over. I make what I call “ayurvedic” mojitos. Although alcohol is heating for all doshas-I have made a medicinal mojito for two different types- either pitta (perfect for summer) or kapha/vata-for other seasons. Always treat your body healthy and help your body heal, but still have fun~and live life!
Don’t forget, it is important to keep your metabolism going when you are a kapha- alcohol slows it down by 30%, this means kaphas do not want to drink alot. Also, alcohol causes edema and the kidneys to hold in water. With that being said- when enjoying an occasional beverage- keep it dosha compatible so you can burn! These are secrets that skinny girl Bethenny Frankel don’t even know!!
I use organic white rum when I can, but when I can’t I buy Olo, a Brazilian rum. Keep one thing in mind when buying alcohol- no American! Thats because America has no truth in labeling when it comes to alcoholic beverages. One thing nice about Olo is that they have now made an organic rum available! YAY!
Remember-drink responsibly, and don’t be afraid to take out the alcohol and add aloe-vera juice instead, for an invigorating alcohol free, healthy treat.

Here are my recipes! Choose all organic!
Spicy Mojito for Vata/Kapha:
Make two cups of roibbos tea (Republic of Tea, makes an amazing organic brand)
add quarter teaspoons of allspice and cardamom
simmer for a half hour- cool-
In a tall glass mix one half cup of tea mixture
with the fresh juice of one half lime and a teaspoon of raw local honey.
Add one shot of Olo white rum and one shot of aloe vera juice..Stir
and drink without ice for more of a kapha and vata friendly drink!
Cooling Rose/Mint Mojitos for Pitta:
Make two cups of Rose and Tulsi tea, use two teabags of Rose Tulsi, (By Organic India) with
one teabag of peppermint (add fresh macerated mint instead-if available)
Simmer for 1/2 hour-cool-
In a tall glass mix 1/2 cp tea mixtures with the juice of lime and a tsp. of
raw local honey.
Add one shot of Olo white rum (new organic variety!) and one shot of aloe juice
…stir…and drink on ice for an enhanced pitta effect!
ALOE VERA JUICE IS GOOD FOR ALL DOSHAS!!! HELPS THE INTESTINES
