A healthy treat that is warming, nourishing and extremely delicious…and did I mention, super easy to make? I haven’t written any new recipes for a while, especially because I put all my best inside of my “Beyond Natural Skincare & Weightloss” book. But lately my kids have been loving this new recipe I developed from almond flour. It all started when we bought some little frangipane tarts at Whole Foods. I started then on a journey to re-invent it, into an ayurvedic type delicacy. Almonds are high in protein and are great for your skin and eyes, providing you eat them with lots of oils! Here I will provide three different suggestions after the recipe for different dosha suggestions. All ingredients, organic and farm fresh of course!
To make or buy a chocolate graham crust
1/2 cp of butter (room temp)
1/2 cp powdered sugar (you can put turbinado in the vita mix and really powder it down with a little cornstarch)
2 Tbs flour
2 large eggs
1/4 tsp almond extract
1.5 cups almond flour
Slivered almonds and or chocolate chips (dark)
Spices* see suggestions at the end
Mix sugar and butter in large bowl until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs and extract and then the flour and almond meal into the mixture. Add spices below per dosha:
Add spices as follows:
Pitta dosha: two drops each of rose essential oil and cardamom essential oil, you can change out half of the butter for coconut oil as well.
Vata and kapha: Two drops of cardamom and 1/2 tsp of cinnamon, change out quarter of the butter for almond oil if needed.
Make a chocolate chip almond spiral on the top. Pour or scoop into pie crust- should be thick.
Refrigerate 15 minutes and then bake at 375 for 18-20 minutes. I like to turn off the oven at 15 minutes and let it sit in the oven for an additional five.
Enjoy with someone you really love ❤
